UMEED-A ray of hope for better tomorrow

Team Indian Development Foundation (IDF)  is trying to bring the change in the children of different slums and rural areas through its Project “UMEED”.

“Project UMEED” is an initiative of Indian Development Foundation to support students with their school fees. The project is dedicated for children who have single parent or who are orphans. Also the support is extended to children who are extremely poor facing financial difficulties.

The purpose of "Project UMEED" is to support every child who has the desire to study and dream big but is unable to do so because of his/her financial condition. There are many NGO’s in Mumbai who support education and award scholarships to those who score high marks subject to several criteria’s but “Project UMEED” believes that help should be granted even to those children who may not score high marks, but has eagerness to study. Many of the children stay in the slums and do not get enough time to study as they work part-time jobs to earn a living.

What is stopping them to go to School?
* Earn money to survive i.e. Child Labour?
* If working, then ‘No School’?
* If going to school and working a part-time job, then not enough time to study and score well?

In India today, 4% of our children never start school, 58% don’t complete primary schools and 90% don’t complete school. The fact that only 10% of our children go to college makes us feel sad.

We believe that ‘Every Child’ has the ‘Right to Education’ and ‘No Child’ is an ‘Average Child’. Their life circumstances have made them average. We at “Project UMEED” support their Annual  fees  in two parts - in duration of  6 Month in the Academic Year.  To evaluate the progress and allot Mentors who guide them periodically and conduct classes regularly to ensure they receive proper supervision and teaching. We found that a child who generally scored 35%-40% is now scoring 75%-80 %. This is our real achievement and motivates us to support them because they are the future of India and it's our duty to help guide them.

Our vision is that every child should receive ‘Quality Education’.
